Jackie Paige Stops By For Some Headshots and Some Fun!

We had the pleasure this past week of photographing the talented and wonderful voice of WWJ Newsradio 950’s PM Drive Anchor Jackie Paige!  Her story is well known here in Metro Detroit and she has plenty of fans for good reason – she’s a real pro and you should tune in in the afternoons on AM 950.  We’ve known Jackie for a bit since our sons played lacrosse and football together in high school, but this was the first time we had a real extended hangout and we really connected.  She’s fun and nice and she looked fantastic – she needed a few new headshots and while we were at it we went with some fun glam as well!  Let’s take a look at a few highlights!

Headshots with Jackie Paige

We started with the professional pics and Jackie had the red power suit going – she looked great!

We have some behind the scenes fun as well – first from Facebook – the end is hilarious but don’t worry we added that to the TikTok as well if you scroll further…

Here’s one more from the professional side…

Fashion and Style With Eleganza Boutique and The Beauty Lounge!

It was definitely “Haute” in the studio yesterday as we collaborated with the girls from Eleganza Boutique for images that will appear in their new catalogue!  Eleganza is a neighbor of ours down the hall here in the Orchard Mall.  They’ve been in business since 1986 and it is a fabulous LOCAL independent boutique.  Eleganza provided the fashions and the models while hair and makeup was provided by The Beauty Lounge – a fantastic salon also here in the mall!

4 Ways We Incorporate Music Into Frameable Faces Photography

Music plays a huge role here at Frameable Faces.  As for me I’ve been a music fanatic my whole life.  I grew up with brothers who were 10 and 8 years older than me so I was headbanging to Kiss, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin when I was 5.  I evolved and Music, Photography Studio, Frameable Faces Photographyplayed the cello in my high school orchestra, and now I sing in a rock band.  I listen to everything from hip/hop to jazz to classical and having a photography studio gives me a lab in which to actively practice my music snobbery on a daily basis and so I will share with you now a few ways which music plays a role at our studio.  You are SO lucky to have access to these pearls….  hahaha…

Music Soothes The Savage Beast

For newborn sessions we turn the heat up, the lights down low, we lock the door to keep the studio exclusive to new mommy and baby (newborns come to the studio in the first two weeks after birth) and play classical music.  While the theory about classical music somehow helping along the cognitive development of babies has been debunked, it can still help to soothe and make baby happy.  A google search turned up this article from 2010 on the topic.  Very often we start off with something simple like Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and then we move on from there.

Music For Inspiration

Music is a very powerful tool to create a mood, and it helps to have a wide repertoire of musical knowledge so you can match the right genre for a haute session or a family session or a high school senior session, although the high school seniors usually know what they like and sometimes a website like Accuradio can come in handy if you don’t own the latest pop hits.

Music For Commercial Purposes

Here is where you need to be careful and follow the rules.  We still see many new photographers who are starting out who use copyrighted music on their websites without permission which is a no-no.  We have permission to use the song on our website, and when it comes to our promotional videos and slideshows that we actually sell as products we pay for the use of royalty-free music.  You can find clips of wonderful professional music for your videos written especially for different kinds of sessions with services like Triple Scoop, Emotion, and Animoto.

Music For Everything Else

Music is always playing here.  Even if there isn’t a session going on there is music playing just to edit or blog to.  As I’m writing this I’m listening to Marty Willson-Piper – guitarist for The Church and one of my favorite artists.  Good soothing jangly alternative rock.  People expect to hear good music when they come here and it’s part of our culture.  It’s fun!  We like to share what we are listening to with the occasional tweet, and we even have a Pinterest board that focuses on the music we play here.

What is your favorite music to listen to and for what activities?

Cold outside? It’s “haute” in here!

“Haute” is listed in the dictionary as “fashionable, high-class”, and we found a gorgeous model to work with to showcase our “Haute” sessions here at Frameable Faces.  These sessions are so fun and we wanted to display a few of the images from this shoot.  Sometimes it’s fun to push the envelope a little and share the results with a significant other.  Sometimes it’s fun to, ahem, really push it with a boudoir shoot and we do those at a private location, but for now we’re just talking fashionable, sexy and fun in the studio, and our model was all that and a bag of chips!  🙂Fashion Photography, Haute Photography, Frameable Faces PhotographyFashion Photography, West Bloomfield PhotographerGlamour Photography, Frameable Faces PhotographyFashion Photography, West Bloomfield Photographer, Frameable Faces Photography

Frameable Faces – What’s In A Name?

For some time Ally went by “Allyson Cohen Photography” before changing the name to Frameable Faces Photography. At the risk of sounding a little corny, Frameable Faces for us genuinely means many things and we thought we would share…

Community
It’s not just about Ally which is one of the reasons the change was made in the first place. Frameable Faces is a place – it’s a physical studio and a business true, but it only works business namebecause it’s more than that. It is really a community – all of you! The smiling and frameable faces of the people who pass in front of Ally’s lens make up Frameable Faces Photography. You are all a part of it and it wouldn’t exist without you. You ARE the frameable faces.
Lifestyle
Sure we take pictures and capture memories here, but we try to promote the idea that being “frameable” is an attitude and even a lifestyle. People are here because they live life to the fullest – otherwise they wouldn’t be looking to have it photographed. Sometimes people walk through our doors hesitantly – they don’t think they are photogenic. Those people deserve a lot of credit for overcoming their doubts and getting in front of the camera, and they end up discovering how frameable they really are. Is your attitude, your family, your life, your smile, your face worth displaying on a wall (or on a purse or in an album)?
Fun
We think the name is fun. It makes us smile, and taking pictures should be fun. We even think our little flower in the logo is fun (don’t ask us how it evolved into our little trademark symbol because we’re not really sure – but it seems to fit). We enjoy meeting so many wonderful people and getting to know our peeps, staying in touch, watching their children grow and celebrating life’s milestones. Sometimes it’s downright hilarious (like when a newborn baby poops on Ally).
So there you have it. Yep – it’s sugary sweet but it is what it is!
